Guidelines for Teleconference Etiquette

(1) A grounded land phone with a mute button is recommended. If you do not have a mute button, please use a wash cloth or a small towel to mute out background noise.

(2) Cordless phones can also cause static and background noise. If you plan to use one of these, we recommend that it is a 2.4 gig and that you remain as close to the base unit as possible.

(3) Cell phones and computer phones are not recommended as they can also cause multiple problems. If the phone that your are using causes problems we may ask you to change phones or drop off the class if there are continuing problems. If you have questions please give us a call and we can discuss it.

(4) If possible please DISABLE CALL WAITING before calling into the conference. Usually this code is *70. However, it’s best to check with your telephone company provider or cell phone company.

(5) Use a headset if possible since we will be working with both hands, tapping, during most calls. Speakerphones are not recommended since they pick all background noise, disrupting the call for others.

(6) Please call in exactly at the top of the hour. Class will begin at two minutes past the hour.

(7) When you enter the call, please identify yourself and where you live: Example: This is Jim Smith from North Carolina.

(8) I love to have fun in my teleconferences!!! We are here to share and discuss. The class will be so much richer and informative if you participate.

(9) We ask that you not "cross talk". Please wait until the person speaking has finished before you speak. When you are ready to speak, state your name to let the class know who is talking.

(10) Please keep your comments short in order to allow others to fully participate.

(11) As a reminder: Please treat everyone on the call with the dignity, courtesy, and respect that you expect from others and that others expect from you.

(12) At five minutes before the end of the call, we will be wrapping up, as others will be using the bridge line after us.
