A: Well I think the first thing being overlooked is the intention behind the process. Consider this for a moment, when you step into a certain situation which is not so pleasant for you, most of the time the negative anchor fires off totally unconsciously, doesn't it? You don't have to consciously go, "Oh, this is where I need to scare the hell out of myself or something like that," you automatically find yourself responding to a trigger or stimulus in a way that you don't like.
Now what you want is to step into that same situation and have a different feeling, probably one that is more empowering and useful through many contexts. What could be most useful for you, and realize it'll be different for each person. Because the key is that it should be just as automatic. Essentially you are telling your brain, "NOT THAT, THIS!" This is the structure for most of NLP, this kind of propulsion mechanism inside your mind, to get you away from what you don't want, and towards what you do want. You will find this same process in the SWISH Pattern as well.
That's why when you set up the original positive anchor, you set it up physically (that's one way), and you can even stack several of these positive experiences on the same place. But it doesn't end there. An anchor is just an anchor, and right now all you have done is setup a physical touch as the stimulus. But that is not what you want in the long run. Because just with this, you are solely relying on your conscious mind to remember where it is, what it consists of, and to remember to fire it off in the situations when you need it.
This whole process needs to be setup unconsciously for it to really work well. So you need to make the stimulus the actual environment, the actual situation. So that as soon as you step into that old situation again now, you feel either neutral or positive. And all you have to do to set this up is when you are originally setting up the positive anchor, future pace yourself into a similar future scenario and fire off the anchor. Do this several times, until it becomes automatic. So you don't have to physically fire off the anchor, but instead the future situation automatically does.
This is how easy it really is. And when you are ready, go test it out. This is all a learning process. You are teaching your neuro-physiology to behave differently. And when you test your work, and if you don't get the result you wanted, do it another way, perhaps with different resources. An anchor is really a gestalt. It will consist of information received from all five senses. And when you re-invoke all five senses, the better your anchor is. So really get your whole body into it. And remember to be in a great state when you do this. The first thing I would recommend is to setup a resource state, consisting of five to ten resources, that you can step into whenever you are wanting to work on yourself or others. And then proceed from here. Enjoy it!
